The FUJIFILM Group Green Policy

Based on our FUJIFILM Group Green Policy, we are committed to conducting business activities that can contribute to 'sustainable development' of the earth, mankind, and companies.

We at FUJIFILM Group believe that “sustainable development” of the earth, mankind, and companies in the 21st century is an issue that must be addressed with the highest priority. Based on this belief, we have prepared the FUJIFILM Group Green Policy as a common medium-term policy statement for the Group. Under our Green Policy concept, we aim to attain customer satisfaction as well as maintain and increase the trust of all our stakeholders while also contributing to sustainable development by working to attain a high level of product quality and environmental quality in products, services, and other corporate activities.
To this end, our Green Policy sets nine priority targets.

Concern for the Environment in Expansion of Growth Businesses

The FUJIFILM Group has designed the current period as our Second Foundation. As we promote the development of strategic businesses, which include medical, and life sciences, documents, graphic arts, materials for flat panel displays, electronic materials, ink materials for inkjet printers as well as other high-performance materials, optical disks, and other products, we are moving ahead with the development of new factories and research centers and expanding existing capacity.

Under these circumstances, based on the philosophy we have adhered to since the foundation of the Company, which is “concern for and protection of the natural environment are the foundation of corporate activities,” we are continuing to implement a range of policies, including “showing concern for the natural environment (attaining harmony among human beings and nature)” and “ensuring safety regarding chemical substance content.”

Strengthening Systems for Responding to Laws and Regulations

To respond appropriately to the RoHS directive and other legal regulations, FUJIFILM holds an International Conference for Environmental Officers and has compiled a Master Database for Product Environmental Information. Through the conference and database, FUJIFILM Group members around the world can share expert information on environmental matters and respond globally to environmental requirements.

In addition, taking green procurement one step further, we have our suppliers undertake self-surveillance and have introduced electronic surveillance, which involves having suppliers report on the results of their checks on chemical substance content via the Internet. This approach has enabled us to establish systems for the management of content chemicals all along the supply chain.

In management systems, virtually all our factories and offices obtained ISO 14001 certification for their environmental management systems in 2004. Regarding quality management, previously, only our factories and a portion of R&D facilities had obtained ISO 9001 certification, but in December 2005, the divisions of the FUJIFILM headquarters and nine Group companies made the transition to the 2004 version of ISO 14001 and simultaneously obtained ISO 9001 certification. As a result, we have been able to integrate our systems for environmental and quality management and are moving toward attaining an even higher level of customer satisfaction.

Promoting Communication with Stakeholders

Each year, we hold the Environmental Forum for the presentation of practical examples of initiatives related to the latest environmental technologies, environment-friendly products, activities and policies for improving the natural environment, and legal regulations in Japan and overseas. The objective of this forum is to share technology and information related to the environment within the FUJIFILM Group and increase “environmental quality.” Year by year, the scope of participants from Group companies has expanded, but we are planning to enlarge the scope even further to improve the forum's effectiveness.

Also, as part of our communication and information disclosure activities, we hold Environmental Dialogue Meetings in cooperation with governmental institutions, principally at our production facilities for promoting communication with regional communities.

Going forward, we intend to proactively conduct communication programs both within the Company and with groups outside the Company.
