Tired of printing an additional pass, when standard process inks can’t achieve accurate color development? Or maybe, your in-line press is down again because the halftone colors need to be adjusted in an attempt to get those difficult facial tones?
Regardless of how talented printers are today, they still have to focus most of their time on adjustments to the screen press in order to achieve an accurate image reproduction. In addition, it has become difficult to reproduce customer’s proofs with the ever increasing number of different digital or match proof machines available today. This continues to be time consuming and drive expenses up for the printer, in a market where profits are shrinking.
Fujifilm Sericol’s commitment to providing solutions recognized the need to offer a better set of 4-color process screen inks. That’s why we are proud to introduce True Halftone Technology (THT), a new solution to help screen printers achieve greater color development through an advanced four-color process screen ink set.
THT was developed to provide the industry with an expanded printable color gamut, optimal color densities with minimal hue error, and an ideal print rheology to improve on-press efficiency.
Throughout the screen print industry, we found printers dedicating resources and time to printing additional print passes on their process jobs because their standard halftone sets are unable to achieve a wide gamut of spot colors. For in-line or carousel printers, this can mean tying up an additional press or running the job back through a multi-colored machine for a single pass. With THT’s expanded color gamut you can hit more spot colors easier and faster from just four colors; in most cases, eliminating the need for a 5 th or 6 th print pass on a common process job.
The cleanliness or clarity of a halftone ink is important to its ability to hit accurate colors.
The present offerings in the market have a very small color palette because the nature of inks is heavy and clouded in appearance. This dirty or cloudy appearance directly effects the color development when printing secondary or tertiary colors. With the new cleaner, more transparent THT system overlapping colors are stronger and brighter than ever before; developing the final image cleaner and faster.
This clean pigment technology is also superior when trying to achieve proper grey balance. Printing grays and blacks become simple with THT because the cleanliness of the inks produces a truer black, rather than the normal dirty brown of common halftone inks.
Color is not the only key characteristic of the new THT. The ability to print higher line counts and crisp dot structures are imperative to the screen market. THT boasts an improved print rheology that breaks clean on-press and provides a superior low build and low gain dot structure. This new formulation will help to eliminate common topographical printing problems by resulting in an overall lower dot build.
