Sericol. More than ink...Solutions. Fujifilm

Sericol operates a strict system of quality assurance, which focuses on prevention not cure. The Quality Management Systems we use are integrated in an ISO 9001 process, which controls all aspects of quality assurance from design and development through to production and customer service.

All Seridisc products are tested for a variety of properties that maintain color consistency, printing and technical performance.

Pigment and particle size. The maintenance of particle size is important to ensure that the pigment is ground and dispersed correctly.

Cure speed. Printing, curing and assessing the manufactured batch under controlled conditions, checks the cure speed of all Seridisc inks and varnishes. The cure of Seridisc products is important as:

  • Too slow a cure reduces production speed and can
affect adhesion on spin coat lacquers or polycarbonate.

  • Too fast a cure can lead to disc distortion and some
yellowing of the color. You may also experience
    intercoat adhesion problems.

Optical properties. All Seridisc products are tested for:
Color of both the mass tone and tinting strength,
Gloss and Opacity

Viscosity. The viscosity is particularly important, as Seridisc inks need to have good flow combined with a ‘soft gel’ structure. This is required to maintain properties such as print definition but also surface structure.

Specific gravity. The specific gravity of all Seridisc inks is measured and controlled to ensure complete consistency. This consistency is required to maintain the speed and accuracy of the automatic color measuring and dispensing systems, used in the optical media industry.
