benefit Replicators On June 17th and 18th Sericol held the second in a series of workshops dedicated to Optical Media Replicators. This workshop entitled 'Fit for Offset' focused on the decoration of DVDs using screen and offset print technology. The event was supported by the industry leading machinery manufacturer Kammann and held at their headquarters in Bünde, Germany. At the start of the workshop, Michael Engelke, Marketing Manager for Sericol Europe and Oliver Kammann from Kammann in Germany welcomed replicators from all over Europe. The Seminar opened with detailed technical presentations covering correct plate imaging, the importance of color calibration at the repro stage, the correct use of screen printing ground coat white and the wet on dry offset printing process. All this was then put into practice when delegates were divided into groups and got to use the latest equipment from Kammann including the K15-40 offset press, the K26-O plate imager and the recently at MediaTech in Las Vegas launched Computer-To-Screen (CTS) system K26-S. The first day finished with a very enjoyable and relaxing paddle steamer trip on the nearby river Weser. During the two days much discussion was held on disc decoration and related problem-solving strategies. One thing that became very clear was the benefits of using Sericol's recently launched Seridisc DVD package and Xtreme Screen in combination with Kammann equipment. Ian Minnard from Technicolor commented on the workshop
